Superstar K’s Kim Ji Soo has returned with his second mini-album! Since this year’s drama Dream High 2, the young singer and songwriter has proven himself as a versatile entertainer. I think this a humorous and wonderfully free-spirited music video and album that shows off Ji Soo’s original color compared to his debut mini-album last year.
Chunglim is, I guess, one of the more “known” nugu singers with a lot of people asking to this day where he just disappeared to. Well, I recently started to make assumptions that he had decided to go and do military service or something. However, I came across something today that confirmed to me that he’s hasn’t disappeared!
I came across the cyworld account of a highly dedication Chunglim fan who has been posting his most recent photos onto their minihompy. They also revealed that Chunglim will be acting as a barista in the upcoming Chinese (Korean co-produced) drama “Queen of Coffee”. The drama is said to air sometime next month. If I have any chinese readers that may know something more about this drama then please let me know!
It is unknown when and if he is going to release more music but I hope after he finished with this drama that he does make a return.
Having recently released their debut single “Take Away”, I wasn’t sure what could be expected from this group after this as the song was not combined with a music video. However, the girls have made their debut on Music Bank this week. Definitely a group that is strong vocally and I hope to hear more from them in the future.
I recently updated you guys with her current activities and the chances of a possible comeback and now I have a few more videos for you! Maydoni recently attended what appears to be an open music event in which she performed two covers. The first being Jessie J’s Domino and the second being Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On.
So here’s a group that I was actually quite dubious about, I had to ask fellow writer Kaye what she thought of them before I listened to them because I knew if she liked it, I would. So, after she told me the song was “nice”, I decided to check it out and it turns out I enjoyed the song and their voices, so this was already a winning combination.
So I’ve spent some time looking into them and who is who, what each member sounds like and so on. I then later proceeded to watch their live performances as I felt it would be better to hear how they fare live compared to being on a recording. Needless to say, I’m highly impressed.
Debut stage on Mnet’s M! Countdown.
This is a very vocally strong group, for the most part they were all on point with their vocals, though there were a few small microphone problems through. As a whole, all the members sound really great on their own and together, there is not one voice I don’t enjoy listening to so I think I’m actually going to have problems picking a favourite in terms of vocals within this group. Though, I have two I’m in favour of, just purely based on my natural bias towards high & power vocalists.
The first is Leo (main part is 2:15-2:40, the member with the shortest hair) and his fairly high range. Generally he has a very smooth and sweet sounding voice, hitting high notes with some evident ease. Power notes are executed without too much force but you can see he is really putting a lot of effort into what he’s doing. Having a sweet voice with a higher range and the ability to hit power notes leaves him as a perfect candidate for favourite vocals. He basically ticks all the boxes of what I look for in a singer.
Then next up we have our other main vocalist Ken (2:41-2:45, power notes [with mic problems] 3:18-3:28, member with the lightest hair). His voice actually stood out to me while I watched the music video for Super Hero. He also has quite a high vocal range as well (if not just a little lower than Leo’s) and his general tone while he sings is very appealing. He also seems to hit high and power notes comfortably as well. Basically another perfect singer in my eyes and the two of them are on the same level for me.
I really love all of the vocals within this group, but Leo and Ken’s voices stand out the me the most for sure. I’m looking forward to hearing other songs that this group is going to release and I hope they follow the same level of quality in terms of the song in general and the vocals. I really shouldn’t have been so doubting prior to listening to them as they are a really talented group with two great songs on their debut single. A group definitely worth keeping an eye on. Do any of you have a favourite yet, either in terms of vocals or just in general?
I posted recently about the chance of there being a new line up for the group. Recently, the three known and, I guess for now, original members have shared their solo photos from the photoshoot that the group shots were taken from. Based on the fact these are watermarked with their name, it suggests these are comeback photos and that a comeback will be just around the corner! Due to details about the line up change not being confirmed, it may be they are unable to share their photos from the shoot at the moment. Continue reading »
Earlier this year I posted about the possibility of A-ble coming back as a 5 member group, however since I had made this post only the original two members could be seen in activity. The members had been seen posting a few photos in the recording studio and had also recently mentioned that A-ble will be releasing a mini album soon.
Today however, Juho posted a photo on his cyworld title “Maknae Jiyeoul and I!” and captioned “With our maknae!” (Juho is on the left while Jiyeoul is on the right). This has been one of the few and recent happenings which has shown the new members. Juho also shared this photo on his facebook yesterday of the two of them together in what might be the recording studio.
While it had seemed apparent the group was now going to be a 5 member group, a search on naver has now told me that the group is now a 4 member group rather than a 5 member group. With naver having the history stating “Member Taeho Withdrawal” but he can still be seen showing support for them. So as it stands, the line up consists of leader Juho, Chulwoong, Sungmin and maknae Jiyeoul. With the amount of work they have been doing recently it seems apparent that their comeback is going to be fairly soon.
Here is a little more info on Jiyeoul! His full name is Lee Jiyeoul, he was born on the 30th of June 1992, attended Imae High School and graduated last year. Based on his likes on facebook he appears to be a fan of X Japan, Dynamic Duo, Yoon Mirae (Tasha) and Leessang. This partially suggests to me that he may be an addition to the group as a rapper.
I’ll be sure to keep you updated as I can with their happenings!
